• Egypt is a member of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs (Hague System) (since July 1st 1952)
• Egypt is currently applying the classification of "Locarno Agreement" for Industrial Designs.

Procedures:

1. First, we proceed with the filing of an application at the Egyptian Trademark Office.
2. Once the application is being filed, the respective office starts to examine the registrability and novelty of the subject design application.
3. Once the application is being accepted by the registrar, the subject application is published in the official gazette for opposition purpose.
4. Any third party has the right to oppose the design application, based on the lake of novelty of the same; provided that the opposition action is filed within (60) days from the publication date in Egypt.
5. In case no opposition action has been taken till the expiry of the 60-day period, the subject design application will be automatically granted, and the registration certificate will be due for issuance.
