Industrial Design
- Egypt is a member of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs (Hague System) (since July 1st 1952)
- Egypt is currently applying the classification of "Locarno Agreement" for Industrial Designs.
Procedures:
- First, we proceed with the filing of an application at the Egyptian Trademark Office.
- Once the application is being filed, the respective office starts to examine the registrability and novelty of the subject design application.
- Once the application is being accepted by the registrar, the subject application is published in the official gazette for opposition purpose.
- Any third party has the right to oppose the design application, based on the lake of novelty of the same; provided that the opposition action is filed within (60) days from the publication date in Egypt.
- In case no opposition action has been taken till the expiry of the 60-day period, the subject design application will be automatically granted, and the registration certificate will be due for issuance.
