Domian Names Overiew
The Egyptian Universities Network (EUN) is the sole Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Egypt.It is possible in Egypt to register both:
* Top level domains: (.eg)
* Secondary level domains (ex: .com.eg / .org.eg / .edu.eg / .net.eg / .gov.eg etc…)
Procedures:
- First, we submit a formal request addressed to the EUN (Egyptian Universities Network), enclosed by a legalized Power of Attorney for the domain proprietor and supported with the Server Name and IP Net addresses to which the subject domain will be hosted.
- The concerned authority performs a preliminary examination for the subject domain to ensure that the domain is not infringing other parties' already registered domain in Egypt.
- Once the domain is being accepted, a notice of registration from the EUN is addressed to us, where we forward the same to yourselves immediately.
Important Notes:
- The domain is registered for only one year, renewable annually for unlimited times.
- Domain names may be registered for an active or inactive usage (i.e. reservation for future use).
- All domain name registration applications are served on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. All requests will be processed on an equal basis.
- Amendments and modifications of the domain ownership and/or server names or IP addresses are acceptable and applicable in Egypt.
- A domain name needs to contain a minimum of (2) characters and a maximum of (22) alpha-numeric characters per name within the sets (a…z), (0…9).
- Special characters such as a hyphen (-) are not allowed as first or last character.
- The first character should be a letter.
- It is preferable that a domain name is similar to the trade name of the proprietor.
Requirements:
- A duly filled in application form (either soft or hard copy).
- An original signed Power of Attorney legalized up to the Egyptian Consulate.
- A letter requesting the domain name registration, (on official letterhead). The original is required by mail.
