• Egypt is a member of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works. (since July 7th 1977)

Procedures

1. First, and in order for a copyright protection to be effective, the work of art is to be original and includes personal efforts, innovation and new arrangement.
2. We proceed with the filing of the original copyrightable work, there is a separate governmental authority for each type of work, as follows:

• Literal works, to be filed at the Egyptian National Library.
• Artistic works, to be filed at the National Library of Arts in Egypt.
• Computer Software and programs, to be filed at the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

3. Within three days as an approximate time-line, we receive a registration number and receipt from the concerned authorities for the subject work (which is then became a copyrighted work).
